Mason Johnson 40 months:

1.       The child has made progress in the following areas: Mason has made the most progress in his language development, vocabulary, social skills, and cognition. When Mason first started here we with your involvement placed him in speech therapy, and now his language and words are easily understood. He is almost ready to graduate out of speech therapy. He has been using bigger words such as important, reward, expecting.   Mason is also venturing into the Dramatic Play Center daily. He is Practicing problem solving as well.

2.       Mason really enjoys the Block Center, as well as activities that require sorting and dividing things into groups. (Sorting colored marbles into their appropriate destination in the egg carton.)

3.       Mason gets very excited outside. He acts as if he has been set free.  He is attentive when he is in the block center. He pays great detail to the position of the blocks. He is very focused in the block center.

4.       Allowing him to redirect his energy in racing outside or doing laps on the bicycle trail on the playground.

5.       The family could help Mason with his sharing. The easiest way to do this is to display acts of sharing openly as examples.

Journal #11

I am a Kinesthetic Learner. I learn best through hands on interactions and activities. For the visual parents I would post newsletters and posters. For the auditory parents I would explain the important events to them or have their child’s teacher remind them of the events. For the kinesthetic learners I would have the children create something pertaining to the upcoming events that the parents can take home with them.
