Journal #12

Mason Johnson 40 months:

1.       The child has made progress in the following areas: Mason has made the most progress in his language development, vocabulary, social skills, and cognition. When Mason first started here we with your involvement placed him in speech therapy, and now his language and words are easily understood. He is almost ready to graduate out of speech therapy. He has been using bigger words such as important, reward, expecting.   Mason is also venturing into the Dramatic Play Center daily. He is Practicing problem solving as well.

2.       Mason really enjoys the Block Center, as well as activities that require sorting and dividing things into groups. (Sorting colored marbles into their appropriate destination in the egg carton.)

3.       Mason gets very excited outside. He acts as if he has been set free.  He is attentive when he is in the block center. He pays great detail to the position of the blocks. He is very focused in the block center.

4.       Allowing him to redirect his energy in racing outside or doing laps on the bicycle trail on the playground.

5.       The family could help Mason with his sharing. The easiest way to do this is to display acts of sharing openly as examples.

Journal #11

I am a Kinesthetic Learner. I learn best through hands on interactions and activities. For the visual parents I would post newsletters and posters. For the auditory parents I would explain the important events to them or have their child’s teacher remind them of the events. For the kinesthetic learners I would have the children create something pertaining to the upcoming events that the parents can take home with them.

Health Alert!
The death toll from the flu in Oklahoma alone has grown to a heartbreaking 17!! Majority of the victims were young children. Please get your family immunized and protected from this. It can be prevented with immunizations and good hand washing techniques.

The Care Bear Bus will be coming and administering Flu shots for free to SunnySide's children and family on April 18th 2012. If you would like to sign up for you and your child's free flu shot speak to and sign up with the Director, or your child's teacher. Remember to bring immunization records and identification.
                                                                                            Thank You,

New Policy!!!

Due to a recent outbreak of allergic reactions from food, I ask that you do not bring your child to the center with outside food. If your child has a medical disability or issue that cause for a special diet, please make arrangements with the director personally and prior to the food being brought into the center. The children are the main focus and concern so I appreciate your consideration and cooperation.

                                                                                                     Thank You,
                                                                                                     Erin Hubbard

Journal # 7

Ariel was a 28 year old mother of two. she didn't have time to dress up or decently.

I think dressing for success is all about the persons confidence. If she or he feels confident in professional clothing then they will be successful. However, the clothing must be appropriate for the work setting and environment.
